Mexico City
April 20, 2005 at 5:54 pm | In general daily stuff | Leave a CommentI flew on Mexicana Airlines(never again) to Mexico City via Guadalajara. I implented Steeleye Lifekeeper at two sites for Holcim Apasco. This is the worlds second largest cement company. Never knew one could really differentiate their cement.
I really enjoyed the Palanco area of Mexico City. The most interesting thing about working in Mexico is the workers schedule. Since the traffic is so bad in Mexico City, people don’t go home for siesta, but rather just take a leisure break in resturaunts and cafes for two hours. Lunch is the largest meal of the day and typically is from 2pm-4pm. So, getting back from lunch at 4pm is quite strange. Then we usually worked until 8pm. Dinner was a very light meal. I kind of liked it. You just have to make sure to eat something before you go to work, otherwise holding out until 2pm+ to eat can be difficult.
Living in California most of my life, the food was what I expected. I found that food in Mexico is a lot closer to the food in California than that Texmex stuff you get in Texas. I think Texas just invented their own food.
Here is the view from my room at the InterContinental Presidente.

This is some kind of civic center where the Barnum & Bailey Circus was at on this day.
