Most people who subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket, probably don’t realize that not only did fees go up again for SD broadcasts, but not DTV is going to charge their HD subscribes a whopping $99 for a service that was free last year. They say that the NFL has raised the rates and they don’t have control of it. I thought the networks produced the telecasts, paying for production costs through advertising?
Well, welcome No HD TAX!. This site has over a 1,000 signatures to date of people who are going to cancel their NFL ST subscriptions because of this price hike. DTV has said that this is a ’super fan’ package and has other services like interactive viewing. Unfortunately, no interactive DTV set top box exists to date.
DTV called me today and said they are willing to lower the ’super fan’ price to $49 for me, but I told them, “no way!” I know next year ’super fan’ will costs $99 or more again. I’ve cancelled my NFL ST subscription and am thinking of dumping DTV entirely for Comcast. At least I can get all my locals in HD with comcast. I’ve told DTV that I will not subscribe to the NFL ST until the tax for HD viewing is dropped for good.
