The war on terror is over!
July 27, 2005 at 10:42 pm | In general daily stuff | Leave a CommentYes, rejoice! The war on terror is over..or the marketing team at the White House just wants us to forget they ever used that phrase. From now on it will be know as….drum roll please…”A global struggle against violent extremism.” OK, so once you stop laughing lets get serious for a moment. Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Richard Myers said this week that the military “objected to the use of the term ‘war on terrorism’ before, because if you call it a war, then you think of people in uniform as being the solution.”
Now, I would love to say that our soliders aren’t out there alone fighting this “struggle”, but honestly the only thing people at home are doing to support the war is putting bumper stickers on their cars. Ask any person who supports our troops what they have done to support them and the answer will either be A) One of my children is in Iraq or B) uhhh.
My marketing team has come up with a new slogan also, “Support our troops, send your kids”
WordPress
July 27, 2005 at 5:47 pm | In general daily stuff | Leave a CommentAdded a great plugin called Postie. This allows me to send multimedia emails from my camera phone to a special address at galicki.net. Then a cronjob checks for new emails and automatically adds the post. I can add my own titles and even select the category the message should be filed under. I can actually submit via a standard email client as well. Nice!
I also added the Spell Checker plugin. You can spell check your comments as well as add words to your own custom dictionary if you register.
Finally, I also added the jVisitor and phpwebtrace plug-ins. I can get some statistics about my users and jvistors can tell which country commentors are from.
Karma Police redux.
July 26, 2005 at 1:45 pm | In general daily stuff | Leave a CommentAn already released report from the US government detailed that only 50% of Police battalions in Iraq are able to combat insurgents…Now comes word that Iraqi police are convicted criminals, illiterate and in fact insurgents themselves. Thank goodness for the Space Shuttle and the Judge Roberts nomination to distract the country.
Karma Police?
July 25, 2005 at 1:03 pm | In general daily stuff | Leave a CommentOver at the DCCC(Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) site, they have a new video and petition asking signees to send a message to the White House to fire Karl Rove.
I provide this link for comic relief only. I particularly enjoy the Radiohead “Karma Police” soundbed at the end.
Lyrics, “This is what you’ll get when you mess with us…” Um, the (D)’s haven’t thrown a punch since Vince Foster…Gimmie a break.
Some fun…
July 24, 2005 at 12:02 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentThis is pretty old, but I always wanted to do this on my blog. These are the places I’ve visited. This doesn’t include just airport landings. I feel like I’m well traveled, but after viewing this..I feel like I need to do a lot more traveling. I guess some people have never seen the ocean, or left their home country. Ok, I don’t feel so bad..
